Ever heard the old adage "No Hoof No Horse". It has been known for some time by research scientists, veterinarians and farriers alike that biotin, zinc and methionine supplementation is the most effective treatment for horses with hoof problems.

No Hoof No Horse
All hoof growth begins at the coronary border of the hoof. This is know as the coronary band. Horses hooves grow at a rate of about 7 - 9mm a month and so generally it will take at least 12 months for the hoof wall to fully replace itself. Quality hoof growth equates to good hoof horn, which in turn results in more resilient hooves.

Poor quality hoof horn is a common complaint with owners and trainers of performance horses and more often than not is responsible for limiting performance. HYGAIN® GLEAM® assists hoof growth thereby improving in the development of a strong and healthy hoof horn. Coupled with corrective shaping and trimming from a qualified farrier, HYGAIN® GLEAM® can be used for such conditions as quarter and toe cracks, collapsed heels, thin flaky walls and laminitis.

Active Ingredients

Biotin- Biotin is water soluble B-Group Vitamin often referred to as Vitamin H. Research suggests that production of keratin was stimulated in horses supplemented with biotin. This resulted in the production of smooth soft hair in the coat. We know this as a summer coat. This was a pleasant side effect of the research, which was concerned with the growth and development of the hoof.

Methionine - Methionine is an essential sulfur bearing amino acid which is required to be supplemented in the horse's diet as horses are not able to produce this themselves. Nutritionists and veterinarians alike have been recommending methionine for years because of its ability to stimulate the production of keratin fibred in the horse's coat. Methionine works synergistically with biotin to increase the effectiveness of both nutrients.

Zinc - Zinc is associated with the health and integrity of hair, skin, hooves and the immune system. Zinc deficiencies retard the synthesis of DNA, RNA and protein, which are necessary for proper coat condition and repair. A shortage of zinc can also impair cellular division and growth and repair of connective tissue. HYGAIN® GLEAM® contains bio-chelated zinc. This is zinc, which is bound to an amino acid group. Chelation enhances digestion and increase the effectiveness of the zinc.

Full Fat Soybean Meal - is high in fat and easily digested by the horse. It is also high in protein and contains all the essential amino acids and Omega Essential Fatty Acids are required for healthy skin and glowing coat.
