The Yarra Valley Quarter Horse Associations' AA Classic show was held over two fantastic, sunny days. We saw around 150 horses and competitors competing for ribbons, sashes, garlands, bronze plaques, buckles and prizemoney, showing in halter, showmanship, western pleasure, western horsemanship, trail, hunter under saddle, hunt seat equitation, western riding and reining. Two versatility events also gave the Quarter Horse the opportunity to display their ability to perform in a mixture of four different events for an overall winner in a Youth event and an Amateur Owner event. High Point awards at the end of the show were won by the highest placed Youth, Amateur, Junior Horse (2 to 5 years) and Senior Horse (6 years and over) who competed in eligable events.

YVQHA are proud to announce that HYGAIN was a part of our Classic Show for the first time this year sponsoring the Youth 13 years and under Hunter Under Saddle, the Youth 14 and over Hunter Under Saddle and the Two Year Old Hunter Under Saddle. The Youth classes were well supported with six and seven entries respectively however there were no entries in the Two Year Old class.

Jessie Freeman riding Charary Glory B won the Hygain Youth 13 years and under class with Jesse Mathrick on Demins the Menace second and Brodie Passick on Charary Power of One third. The Hygain Youth 14 years and over saw Dannielle Philpotts-Green also riding Charary Glory B in first place with second going to Samantha Butter on Consent to Sneekapeek and third to Lauryn Miletic on More Than Enough.

Charary Glory B also won High Point Senior Horse and with Danielle the High Point Youth awards after competing in every different style of class over the two days, proving just how versatile, competitive and willing the Quarter Horse is!
YVQHA would like to thank HYGAIN for their support and hope that they will once again be on board for the 2007 Classic next January. We also hold monthly shows on the first weekend each month at Glenbrae. A Versatility event, one for Youth and one for Amateurs, consisting of Showmanship, Western Pleasure, Western Horsemanship/Trail Combination and Hunter Under Saddle was run as apart of the Saturday night program. There was prizemoney to fourth place and an engraved buckle valued at $250 for the winners. In the Amateur event, the winner of each leg received $50 and in the Youth event, $20.
