AUSTRALIAN HALTER SHOWCASE  WESTERN PERFORMANCE SHOW

The Australian Halter Showcase was held at Werribee Park Equestrian Centre from March 9th – 12th 2006 .

The show was extremely well supported again this year where 284 horses from all states of Australia gathered to compete for 36 trophy buckles, $30,000.00 in prize money plus many other prizes.

Day 1: Thursday arrived, The American Judge Holly Hover, was welcomed to the pen and the show was underway. Ahead of the competitors were 92 highly contested events which would take 4 days and 3 nights to complete.

The first day saw four Showcase events awarded:

  • Monbulk Rural 4 & 5 yo Western Pleasure Showcase won by Kristy Rose on RQH Wanted

  • Lil Remuda QH Youth Western Pleasure Showcase won by Jessica Oldham on RQH Insatiable

  • Hy Gain All Age Trail won by Monica Watts on Pablo Command

  • Rutlands QH All Age Hunter Under Saddle won by Carolyn Johnson on Winderadeen Dash To The Bar

Day 2 and fantastic weather greeted us again. Today would see the battle for the Saddle Up Super Horse and 3 more Showcase events unfold. The Super Horse competition requires the

Horses to compete in 5 different disciplines – Halter, Hunter Under Saddle, Trail, Western Pleasure and Reining. This truly brings to the fore the versatility of the western horses involved.

Results for the Showcase events are:

  • Winderadeen Amateur Western Pleasure won by Leslie Stewart on Cee A Little Twist

  • Futera QH & Classy Priority 2yo Debutante Western Pleasure won by Kristy Rose on LW Pawsitively Rock N

  • Croppys Ps & Qs 2 & over Halter Maturity won by Michelle O’Connell with Intensity

  • Saddle Up Super Horse won by David Norbury on Annlee Hes Jim Dandy

Day 3 Saturday, the program is dominated by the Halter and Reining events. On this day we saw 6 Showcase events decided and the quality of the Halter and Performance of the Reining horses made for exciting viewing.

Showcase winners were:

  •  KER & Home Hotel Weanling Halter won by Andrew Soper with Sheza Shameless Bandit

  • AC/DC Yearling On The Lunge won by Gene Redwood with Hez Da One

  • Blue Dandenong Bulb Farm Yearling Halter won by Bev Chapman with GSQ How D Miss Mytee

  • AC/DC 2yo Western Pleasure won by Holly Johnson on Dee Bar Beyond Me Blue

  • International Horse Breeders Non Pro Reining won by Leonie Huber on Breakin Hearts

  • VRHA, G & L Baker & Ruf Major Open Reining won by Shane Watts on Genuine Jesse

Day 4 Sunday, the last day had arrived and even though it was an extremely hot day the classes were still large and the standard of performance very high. The final 3 Showcase events were decided along with the High Point awards.

  • Grand Southern QH & Signature Equestrian Senior Horse Western Pleasure won by Stephanie McDonald on Pawsitively Blazing

  • 3yo Western Pleasure won by Kristy Rose on RQH Isle Be Stylish
