11th
June - BEDS Competition
The
first of the Barwon Equestrian Dressage Series (B.E.D.S) was run at The Little
River Pony Club Sunday the 11th of June. The weather was at Melbourne's worst
but these Western regions really do need the rain.
With much enthusiasm the
day kicked off around 8.30 with full entries in levels 5,4,3, pony club and not
a bad attendance in levels 1 and 2.
The unofficial H.R.C.A.V levels 1 to
5 were especially patronized.
To spite the cold and miserable conditions
the day was well run and organised.
This is the fourth B.E.D.S series.
As a spectator of all four B.E.D.S. series the improvement of dressage in the
Barwon Zone has been amazing (to say the least) with some scores reaching 75%.
The
best feature of the Little River competition from a competitors view would have
to be the spacious warm up areas with all riders showing courtesy to others on
younger and greener horses with plenty of smiles all around.
For those
not familiar with the B.E.D.S series there are seven competitions within the Barwon
Region. You don't need to attend all seven but for those who do there is a bonus
ten points added to your final score. Riders points are allocated on placing's
eg; if there are 13 competitors in your section and you finish 7th you will receive
7 points. Your best four scores out of the series account for your final score,
the highest score in each level receives a trophy rug, sash and trophy.
